Writer and yogi Katie Rosman was looking for a way to honor her mother, a sweet and fit Pilates teacher who died of lung cancer at age 60. Katie’s mom, Suzy Rosin, would’ve turned 70 this Monday, Dec. 22. To raise money in her mom’s name, Katie is doing 31 days of yoga in December. All proceeds will go to the charity of her choice: Yogis Heart! Donate to Yogis Heart here.¬†She wants to bring in $1,000, and we hear she’s well on her way. Help her by spreading the word on all social media (post photos!) using the hashtag #Suzy70.
Yogis Heart provides yoga scholarships for people ages 18 to 25 who really can’t afford it but need the physical and mental benefits of a regular practice. Katie says, “I am compelled by the idea of sharing the gifts of yoga–fitness, confidence, mindfulness, quiet. Young people are often making decisions that can significantly impact their adult lives–but they don’t always know it.”
Why this challenge? Some of Katie’s friends were running marathons for amazing causes. She just wanted to get into the spirit her yogic way. “I considered how I might mark my mom’s birthday in a positive way–a way that focused on her life not her death.”
How is Katie feeling? “Fantastic and sore.” She loves to take Trella Dolgin’s classes and also practices at home. Every day. For 31 days. Donate now for Katie and Suzy and Yogis Heart. #Suzy70
We are so inspired by Katie’s DIY yoga marathon for her mom. What an honor that she included Yogis Heart! We love her creative, loving and giving spirit.
